Whiskey (or whisky to those in Canada and Scotland) fans need look no further if searching for an evening of world selections in London’s Hyde Park area. Crossing’s Grill and Pub , 1269 Hyde Park Road, present a four course “whiskey dinner” on Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 pm.
Back in September, Crossings showcased “beers of the world” at their Beer Festival (read the London Dining Review posting) so a whiskey dinner fits well in with this apparent new direction of drink-themed events.
This dinner may not be the most appropriate occasion to ask for your tasting mixed with coke, but the staff will no doubt accommodate any request.
The dinner is $50 per person, and seats can be reserved at 519-472-3020. Whiskey Dinner Menu
The evening starts with hors d’oeuvres served with Canadian Club Classic.
The first course features charcuterie platter of cured meats (breseola, capricola, prosciutto), olives and strong cheesed paired with Alberta Premium Dark Horse Rye.
Irish whiskey-braised crispy pork belly on potato rosti with a maple whiskey glaze and glazed baby carrots and shoots arrives next along with Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey.
The third course serves up braised pork back ribs on chevre mashed potato with a mild scotch-scented barbeque sauce. It is paired with Highland Park 18-year-old Scotch.
The final course offers Makers 46 and pecan tart with a brown sugar bourbon sauce and bourbon ice cream, enjoyed with Markers Mark American Bourbon.
