The month of February is getting changed to FeBREWary again this year at Beau’s All Natural, in honour of all the special events and beer releases every week.
FeBREWary beer releases kick off Feb. 1 with Oiseau de Nuit, a beer designed and brewed collaboratively with Dick Cantwell, brewmaster at Elysian Brewing in Seattle, WA. Oiseau is a gruit (ale brewed with herbs or spices instead of hops) and was treated to an addition of pumpkin puree as well. The beer, which will be available directly from the brewery and on tap at select restaurants and pubs, is a nod to Cantwell’s expertise in brewing with pumpkin and Elysian’s signature pumpkin ale, called Night Owl.
Beau’s will bring back the extra-strong herbed beer BogFather on February 15, following up on a successful launch of the beer in 2011. Only 1,000 bottles were originally made available two years ago, but this year there will be wider availability, thanks to the recently completed brewery expansion. The re-release of BogFather coincides with Ottawa’s new Winter Beer Festival “Winter Brewed,” to be held outdoors in the Sparks St. Mall Feb. 16 and 17.
