Beer News Event Happenings — 12 February 2013

The only thing better than tasting brand new innovative beers before anyone else is tasting them paired with hearty delicious food.

Timed to coincide with the release of Sawdust City Brewing’s “Long, Dark Voyage to Uranus” Imperial Stout is a beer dinner on Wednesday, February 27 at 6:00 pm at Milos’ Craft Beer Emporium, 420 Talbot Street.

The new creation is an “Uranal Imperial Stout” strong dark beer at 9% alcohol and available in 650 ml bottles. It is one of a select group of beers available for tasting on a special evening hosted with the brewmaster himself.

The evening is hosted by Sawdust City who is taking over 12 taps and presents a welcome pint and a four-course meal, each paired with a different brew for $55 plus taxes and gratuity.

Details are provided below, but according to the event announcement at, “Our good friend and talented brewmaster Sam Corbeil is coming to London to share with us his beers, sense of humour and great food prepared by our chef Matt Reijnen.”

Also according to the event site, where tickets can be purchased, the following Sawdust City beers are to be available either with the dinner of for sale during the evening:

• Skinny Dipping Oatmeal Stout
• Skinny Dipping with Friends
• Lone Pine IPA
• Ol’ Woody Altbier
• Long Dark Voyage to Uranus Imperial Stout
• Barrel-aged version of Uranus & Cask of Bloody Long, Dark Voyage to Uranus
• Gateway Kolsch
And who knows what else might show up.
