Inspired by a staff trip touring Czech breweries and Munich’s world-famous beer festival, Steam Whistle embraces yet another European tradition at their Toronto brewery. “We experienced such rich brewing heritage and beer culture in Europe that we were determined to recreate that same magic here at Steam Whistle” explains brewery co-founder Cam Heaps. “Oktoberfest in Munich was spectacular: literally thousands of people together celebrating beer through camaraderie, song, food, folk culture and pageantry.  We invite beer lovers to join in Steam Whistle’s versions of this renowned festival.”

About Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany originated in 1810 as 16 days of festivities to commemorate the marriage of Bavaria’s King Ludwig to his bride Queen Therese. Now 200 years later it is the world’s largest fair, hosting more than 5 million people each year all there to celebrate beer. Travellers from the across the globe mingle with native Bavarians, young and old, dressed in traditional dirndl and lederhausen, parading through Munich enroute to the festival grounds. With the 12 gun salute and an official tapping of the first keg by the Mayor, Oktoberfest is open, and so begins the most incredible festivity on earth. Oktoberfest runs from September 22nd to October 7th in Munich this year.

Tasting Notes for Steam Whistle Pilsner
Steam Whistle Pilsner offers the style and flavour of the great Pilsners of Europe, yet is brewed fresh locally at our independent, Canadian Brewery. Crafted under the watchful eye of our Czech-born Brewmaster, this golden-coloured Bohemian Pilsner is characterized by a floral hoppy aroma, a sweet, full malty character that is balanced by a pleasant bitterness and a clean, crisp finish. When pouring this refreshing lager, expect soft, rising foam and a smooth drinking experience. Best stored and served at 4-8 degrees C.
